Background

St Francis church was built in 1961 on the London Road to serve the London overspill estates. It was designed as a building to be shared with the community, and is used by various groups during the day, and by community groups in the evenings and on Saturdays.

The Services

The present congregation numbers about 30 most Sundays. Our 9.30am service is Holy Communion, a blend of tradition and informality. A reflective said service of Holy Communion happens every Wednesday at 10am. A special event for families and children is "Workshop, Word and Worship" on the first Sunday each month.

Other Events

Every Friday morning and afternoon the Church hosts the mother and toddlers group, a lively and enjoyable club for children of pre-school age.  Youth Leaders also arrange an annual summer club and activity days for older children.
